Meeting Minutes
November 7, 2002

Present: Susan Clark, Greg Whitchurch, Barb Whitchurch, Kelly Ault and Dave Shepard

1. Middlesex Operator’s Manual
The schedule for completing and printing the manual was discussed with the following dates determined:
-final text to Susan by December 15, 2002
-send to printer by January 15, 2003
-distribute by February 15, 2003

There was discussion of topics that still need to be covered in the Operator’s Manual. Kelly described the people and categories of people she wants to conduct interviews with.
 
Maps for the manual were discussed; Dave proposed one larger map (8.5" X 17")and one smaller map (8.5" X 11") with different information on each. Items that the committee would like to be included on the maps were discussed, those items with asterisks were deemed to be most important for inclusion on the map:
-roads with names and classification*
-streams and water bodies*
-trail heads and trails
-churches
-school and town hall
-cemeteries
-public lands and recreation areas*
-fire station
-town garage
-swimming holes? (this would require landowner permission)

2. Technology
Susan has contacted both the League of Cities and Towns and the Secretary of State’s Office about technology to allow voting at Town Meeting without being physically present. The Secretary of State’s Office responded that they didn’t think the technology to allow this is currently available but if it was it would probably require a legislative change to allow it. The League also felt a legislative change would be required. Susan added that these responses were on voice mail and she will try to speak with someone directly.


3. Next meeting date: December 5, 2002.
