Minutes of the Middlesex Selectboard Meeting 6/12/2007
Present: Walter Kelley, Bill Callnan, Cindy Carlson, Mary Alexander, Mary Just Skinner, Peter Hood, Gary Lamell
Meeting Called to order at 6:35 pm
June Lakin, Town Clerk The latest copy of the town financial report was reviewed and discussed. The Board discusses the possibility of paying down debt service during the current budget period. The Board discusses delinquent taxes for this budget period. June is anticipating that she will be able to return to work part time as of 8/1/2007. The Board discusses the accounting process. Joanne Hull, who has been helping out with payroll, will no longer be able to assist. Helen Weed has offered to help and will meet with Joanne and Janet next week.
Gary Lamell, Road Commissioner Gary reports that the winter sand is all stored for this coming year. Gary will be on vacation the end of June. The new backhoe has not been delivered and Gary will have them deliver it when he returns from vacation. There was discussion of how the roads are raised as new gravel is laid down raising them above the level of driveways. Towns do not lower the level of the roads before laying new gravel down. The quality of roads has improved over the years so there is less mud now but there are ruts. The Board and Road Commissioner will think about the possibility of cutting back on resurfacing in the future. When Molly Supple Hill Road is resurfaced this summer it will also be narrowed.
Motion: Mary Just Skinner moves to approve from the Milford Leonard Fund, the same amount given last year to be given to Katelyn O’Neil. Bill seconds. Motion carries.
The Board discusses mowing of the bandstand area at the recreation field which is in need of being mowed. The Recreation Committee has not mowed this area in the past. The Board is in agreement that mowing of this area should be the Bandstand Committee’s responsibility. (Note – Bill noted that the lawn was mowed shortly after this meeting.)
