Plan Objectives
• To increase awareness of tree resources and benefits in the Town of Middlesex. • To increase the Town’s capacity to properly care for its existing tree resources. • To expand the tree resources in Town at selected and designated sites. • To prepare a site inventory at the selected and designated sites. • To dedicate the Ed Weed tree every Arbor Day (May 2nd).

Detailed Inventory (see attached Site Plan)
Numbers and Types of Species The site contains 19 mature X maple trees and X younger X maple trees.
Age of Species The 19 mature maple trees range in age between X and X years old. The 5 younger maple trees were planted around X and therefore are approximately X years old.
Size of Species The 19 mature maple trees range in size between X and X inches in diameter and X and X feet in height and X and X feet in canopy cover.
Conditions and Deficiencies
Prescribed Treatments / Tasks
Maintenance See the attached maintenance plan for 15 of the 19 mature trees. The maintenance plan is divided into two phases that will take place over the course of two consecutive years. The first phase / first year will consist of safety pruning trees numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18 and 19 (COMPLETED 2002). The second phase / second year will consist of cabling and bracing trees numbered 4, 6, 10, 17, 18 and 19, and fertilizing tree numbered 7.
Removal and Replacement Trees numbered 8, 11, 14 and 16 are recommended for removal because they are either already dead, or are at a point whereby any treatments would not significantly prolong the life or enhance the health of the trees and / or create a safer environment. This would occur in the second phase / second year of the plan and it is hoped that the removed trees would be replaced.
